The doctor is in. In a manner of speaking.
Doctor Jekyll–a Hammer Studios entry described as a “modern twist on the classic horror tale”–is heading from post-production to an as-yet-unannounced release date, and the first full image of Eddie Izzard in the title role can be seen on this page–courtesy of comicbook.com.
This different take on the iconic Robert Louis Stevenson story of one man’s efforts to separate good from evil is directed by Joe Stephenson from a screenplay by Dan Kelly-Mulhern.
In the film, the “reclusive Nina Jekyll (Izzard) finds friendship with newly hired help Rob (Scott Chambers), and the pair must work together to prevent Hyde from destroying her life,” according to the brief synopsis.
The cast is rounded out by Lindsay Duncan, Simon Callow, Jonathan Hyde, Tony Jayawardena and Robyn Cara.
Stephenson is also producing the film, along with Guy de Beaujeu and Liam Coutts. The executive producer is Christian Angermayer.
