“One girl lives…one girl dies.”

A new behind-the-scenes featurette with the cast and crew of The Exorcist: Believer–the first sequel to the 1973 horror classic–dives into the whys and wherefores of the new film, accenting Ellen Burstyn’s return to the franchise. Check out the revealing video on this page.

This first of three planned sequels from Blumhouse and Universal–which hits the big screen Oct. 6–is helmed by David Gordon Green from a screenplay he wrote with Scott Teems, Danny McBride and Peter Sattler.

The film follows Victor Fielding (Leslie Odom Jr.), who’s raising his daughter Angela (Lidya Jewett) alone following his wife’s death. But their lives take a terrible turn when Angela and her friend Katherine (Olivia Marcum) go missing in the nearby woods.

The two girls return three days later, but have no memory of what happened to them. This kicks off a chain of events that forces Fielding “to confront evil–and find the one person who has seen something like this before: Chris MacNeil (Burstyn).”
