Night of the Living Dead – Restored and Presented in 4K

This November the Museum of Modern Art in New York City has announced that they will be screening a 4k digital restoration of George A. Romero’s groundbreaking film Night of the Living Dead as a part of its annual “To Save and Project” film festival. Per the press release, the “To Save and Project” festival showcases the best new restorations of masterworks and rediscoveries of world cinema.

The film was restored by The Museum of Modern Art and The Film Foundation with funding provided by the George Lucas Family Foundation. The restoration was overseen by George A. Romero along with Image Ten alum Gary Streiner, Russ Streiner and John Russo. read more

Official Trailer for Resident Evil: The Final Chapter Arrives

Sony has released the official trailer for Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, which is set to debut in theaters on January 27, 2017.

Milla Jovovich once again reprises her role as Alice, the zombie-slaughtering protagonist of the Resident Evil film franchise. The latest installment, which is said to pick up immediately after the end of Resident Evil: Retribution, finds Alice heading back to Raccoon City to end the zombie plague once and for all.

Familiar faces, both behind and on screen return for the franchise finale. Jovovich’s husband, Paul W.S. Anderson once again returns to direct. Other familiar faces include Ali Larter (Claire Redfield), Shawn Roberts (Albert Wesker), and Iain Glen (Dr. Alexander Isaacs). read more

Killogy Headhunting Contest Coming in October

Fans of Alan Robert’s Horror Comic winning Killogy will be interested the announcement that this October, Robert and his friends from Skelton Crew Studios will be having a Killogy “headhunting” contest.  For those not familiar with the masterfully constructed horror comic mashup, I originally described it as what would happen if George Romero and Martin Scorcese had a baby.

Beginning on October 1st, a plush zombie head from the hit comic will be hidden at a comic shop somewhere from Maine to California, yours free for the taking… you just have to get there first. By 8 p.m. EST each night, the location of the next day’s shop will be posted on  http://goheadhunting.com   Robert told Horror News Network, “October has always been my favorite time of year, for the obvious reasons. So, I really can’t think of better way to celebrate the days leading up to Halloween than searching for zombie heads for 31 days. It’s like a psychotic version of Pokemon Go!” read more

Restored Version Of Dawn of the Dead To Be Shown at Venice Film Festival

According to Screen Daily, a restored version of George A. Romero’s Dawn of the Dead will premiere at the Venice Film Festival, which runs from August 31st to September 10th.  The critically-acclaimed horror cult classic, originally released in 1978, was Romero’s second entry into his often-imitated series of innovative zombie films (along with Night of the Living Dead, Day of the Dead, Land of the Dead, Diary of the Dead and Survival of the Dead).

The new version of Dawn will be shown at a midnight screening on September 2nd in high definition 4K, a meticulous remaster that also brought the Phantasm film franchise back to life recently in July. read more

Killing Floor 2 Could be a Gorehounds Dream

Georgia-based game developer, Tripwire Interactive has announced that the follow-up to their 2009 hit Killing Floor will be coming to PC and PS2 systems on November 18, 2016.

The backdrop of Killing Floor 2 picks up just a month after the original game concluded. This time though, all hope seems lost as the military is nowhere to be found and civilization is in ruin. It is up to the player to eradicate the monsters and help humanity regain control of Europe.

The End is Nigh! Resident Evil: The Final Chapter Trailer Released

After a four year screen absence, Alice (Milla Jovovich) returns to close out the The Resident Evil film franchise with Resident Evil: The Final Chapter.  Sony Pictures and Screen Gems just unleashed the teaser trailer for the film.  With several years and multiple missed release dates passed, we now have a confirmed January 27th, 2017 premiere date.  The film will be shown in IMAX 3D.

The trailer reveals a plot, which brings Alice full circle with her return to Raccoon City and more specifically, The Hive. Paul W.S. Anderson once again takes the helm, directing RE veterans Ali Larter, Shawn Roberts and Iain Glen. The 2 minute, 35 second peek shows a return to the dark tone of the earlier films combined with the high-energy action of the later installments. read more

George A. Romero Receives Star on Hollywood Walk of Fame

Big news today, as it was announced that George Romero will finally receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame! You can view the full press announcement below. And don’t forget to come see him this August at CT HorrorFest!

The Godfather of Zombies, George A. Romero, will finally receive his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame!

The official announcement came today via a live stream from the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, which administers the Walk of Fame. Those who attended the Texas Frightmare Weekend 2015 event will remember our fundraising efforts. Chris Roe Management spearheaded and led the fundraising efforts at Texas Frightmare Weekend. TFW was more than willing to lend a hand to Chris for the iconic director. The majority of the money raised to fund the effort to get Romero’s Star was raised right here at Texas Frightmare Weekend. A massive memorabilia auction and screenings of the 1978 classic Dawn of the Dead at the Alamo Drafthouse in Dallas contributed to the cause. read more

Zombie Thriller THE THIRD WAVE to Star Ellen Page

Ellen Page has been cast in the upcoming zombie thriller The Third Wave.    The story takes place after a virus, that has created zombie-like monsters out of the humans who infected by it, has been cured.  Those that were had been infected are now shunned by their families and society. The civil unrest leads to a militant government interference.

‘Fear The Walking Dead’ Renewed for Season 3 by AMC

Fear The Walking Dead has been renewed for a third season by AMC, less than a week after the start of it’s second season.  The 16-episode third season of the series will debut in 2017.
