Upcoming ‘Swamp Thing’ Series Gets Teaser Trailer

Now streaming on YouTube, DC Universe has released the first teaser trailer for their upcoming live-action Swamp Thing series starring Derek Mears as the man-turned-monster and can be seen here…

This release follows the unsettling update last week that the series was shutting down production in Wilmington, North Carolina.

More doom and gloom down in the swamp came from The Hollywood Reporter which brought word the episode count for the series has been reduced from 13 episodes to 10. The ending of the season will be reworked to accommodate the new episode count. read more

Adrienne Barbeau Announces Her Return to ‘Swamp Thing’

Adrienne Barbeau stunned horror fans today when she announced via her Twitter page that she will be returning to the swamp as she joined the cast of DC Universe’s Swamp Thing.

While she did not give any info as to which role she will play in the series, the veteran actress adds experience to the series which is said to have a much darker tone than the film. Barbeau will join Derek Mears who will play Swamp Thing, Virginia Madsen, Henderson Wade, Andy Bean, Jennifer Beals, Will Patton, Crystal Reed, and Maria Sten in the production. read more

‘Swamp Thing’ Series Coming to DC Streaming Service in 2019

According to the Hollywood Reporter, a live-action Swamp Thing TV series “…has landed a script-to-series order at DC Universe, the upcoming DC-branded streaming service.”

The series will be “Based on the DC Comics characters created by Len Wein and Bernie Wrightson, the one-hour drama series would follow CDC researcher Abby Arcane, who returns to her childhood home of Houma, Louisiana, in order to investigate a deadly swamp-borne virus. She develops a surprising bond with scientist Alec Holland, only to have him tragically taken from her. But as powerful forces descend on Houma, intent on exploiting the swamp’s mysterious properties for their own purposes, Abby will discover that the swamp holds mystical secrets, and the potential love of her life may not be dead after all.” read more

Englund to Portray Freddy One More Time in New Documentary

It looks like Robert Englund is not quite done haunting our dreams.  Entertainment Weekly reports that Mr. Englund will don the burnt-flesh makeup once again to portray the iconic Freddy Krueger horror role.  Englund had portrayed the nightmare slasher in the original classic film A Nightmare on Elm Street as well as the seven sequels that are part of the original franchise’s timeline.  He also portrayed the character for the “Freddy’s Nightmares” television show, which ran for three seasons in the late 1980s.  Despite hinting over the years that his time as Freddy was done, the actor will be the focus of a new documentary entitled Nightmares in the Makeup Chair, directed by Mike Kerz. read more

Could There be Another Scream in the Future?

As we celebrate the 20-year anniversary of the revolutionary horror-film franchise, “Scream,” we remember that, sadly, the iconic Wes Craven is no longer with us to usher in our new favorite movies. Entertainment Tonight recently interviewed Neve Campbell and Kevin Williamson to reflect on the franchise’s success. Naturally, the potential for another sequel was discussed.

In the interview, Williamson said “Wes and I, when we were starting Scream 4, we had plans for Scream 5 and 6….. Now without Wes, I feel like you have to sort of answer the questions of how and why, and I don’t know how to do it without Wes and I don’t know why to do it.” read more

MTV’s Scream: The TV Series Halloween Special Review

The MTV Scream television series’ days are numbered. While the second season was arguably more watchable than the first season, it still wasn’t great (for every clever concept, like the “school lockdown” episode, there was something nearly unwatchable like the psychedelic never ending house party). The dip in ratings along with the radio silence about upcoming content led to rampant speculation about the fate of the series. When the Halloween Special was announced, some news sources mistakenly reported that the series would be finished after the special aired. Now that we know that Season Three will consist of just six final episodes, the revolving door of showrunners have been tasked with quickly wrapping up a series that never quite got off the ground. read more
