‘Polaroid’ to Go Digital with Netflix Streaming Deal

After years of playing release date hopscotch, Lars Klevberg’s haunted camera picture, Polaroid, may finally see the light of day with a new Netflix deal! HNN’s Nick Banks has been covering the film’s series of unfortunate release dates since the summer of 2017,but the acquisition of Dimension Films and TWC by Lantern Entertainment has made it possible for a new distribution plan for the movie.

Deadline reports that Netflix is working on an “all rights acquisition deal” with Lantern Entertainment for Polaroid. The streaming giant has a track record of securing studio films with troubled release dates for digital releases, and their track record includes recent acquisitions such as The Cloverfield Paradox and Mowgli. In their report, Deadline notes that it could take a while for the Polaroid deal to wrap up due to the film’s initial ownership transition. Regardless of how long it takes for the film to start streaming, the announcement is good news for fans who just want to be able to watch the movie. read more

‘Polaroid’ Pulled From November Release Date

Is Lars Klevberg’s Polaroid about to become the next Amityville: Awakening? According to VarietyPolaroid has yet again been moved off of its re-scheduled release date, the fourth time that the film has been jockeyed around in the last five months, with no date of release in sight.

While the unknown status of the film has been attributed to the on-going scandal at Dimension’s parent company, The Weinstein Company, the roots of this uncertainty go back much further.

The film was originally scheduled for a release on August 25th, 2017 (as detailed in out HNN 2017 Summer Movie Preview), but Polaroid was soon moved to early December.  In the early fall, the film was moved to November 22nd, seemingly to avoid Guillermo de Toro’s The Shape of Water and the film that every rival studio wants to move away from, The Last Jedi. read more
