If you grew up playing with toys in the 80s or 90s, you’ve definitely spent many afternoons recreating famous monster mashes with something sculpted by Larry Elig! The talented artist worked on popular figures from Jurassic Park, Beetlejuice, Terminator 2, Aliens, and Predator during Kenner’s heyday, and now he focuses on bronze busts of classic creatures far and wide. Horror News Network had the opportunity to speak with him during his appearance at Terrificon 2019 in Connecticut to discuss his work: past, present and future!
If your wallet still has some money left in it after last week’s announcement of Funko’s Ad Icons Mystery Minis series (featuring all of the General Mills Monster cereal characters including the rare Yummy Mummy and Fruit Brute), it won’t for long, as Funko announced today on twitter that the Universal Monsters would be getting an entire series of minis dedicated to them.
Coming straight from Variety, the feature film rights for renown toy brand Creepy Crawlers has been acquired Paramount Players.
Plot details are currently unknown but the film will be based on the classic toy molds of all sorts of creepy and slimy critters, like scorpions, spiders and worms.
Creepy Crawlers, currently owned by JAKKS Pacific, was originally developed by Mattel in the early 1960’s. The toy line was revitalized by ToyMax in the ’90’s, which let children create their own molds again, such as the Creeple Peeple and Eeeks. read more
Our friends at Funko are at it again with their third series of horror-movie themed Mystery Mini figures. Both previous series’ of the Horror Classics sets were wildly popular as they included figures of famous horror characters like Hellraiser’s Pinhead, Freddy Krueger, Jason Voorhees, Frankenstein’s Monster and many more. The folks over at PopVinyls got the skinny on set three which looks to include not only alternate versions of Jason Voorhees and Freddy Krueger but also a host of other horror goodies such as Jack Torrance and the Grady twins from The Shining, American Psycho’s Patrick Bateman, Universal’s Mummy and The Wolfman, The Exorcist’s Regan MacNeil and more! read more
Multiple fans around the country have been snapping pictures of toys and action figures based on the upcoming Ghostbusters reboot with clearance stickers on them.
This is a surprising move, as the film won’t be released until July 15th of this year. All pictures that can be found on the internet are from Target. There have been no reports of mark-downs at other national retailers such as Toys ‘R Us or Walmart at this time. Many are attributing the drop in price due to the backlash against the new film by hardcore fans of the original films and cartoon series. read more
