The rock band Kiss is making headlines this week as ticket sales open up for their “End of the Road” final tour; but longtime fans of group recall their “Farewell Tour,” which concluded in 2001. Some felt misled when the band walked back their retirement declaration and began playing shows again just two years later in 2003. Not enough time passed between the farewell and the return for everyone to be on board. ‘Walking Dead’ Star Lauren Cohan Lands Lead Role in ABC’s ‘Whiskey Cavalier’; Could Signal Exit from ‘TWD’

In a move that could signal the end of Maggie on the Walking Dead, Variety is reporting that Lauren Cohan has just  landed the lead role in ABC’s pilot for Whiskey Cavalier.  

According to the report, “Cohan does not currently have a contract in place to return for The Walking Dead’s upcoming ninth season and has been in negotiations with AMC for months over her potential return to the zombie apocalypse series. Cohan has been on the AMC show since its second season…If Whiskey Cavalier moves forward, it is possible Cohan could return to The Walking Dead on a recurring basis in Season 9 or simply leave the show entirely.” read more

‘The Walking Dead’ Renewed for Season 9 with New Showrunner

AMC released some interesting news ahead of today’s presentation at the Television Critics Association press tour. The Walking Dead has been renewed for Season Nine. That’s not so interesting because, dispute declining viewership, the show is still the highest rated scripted program on television. The interesting part is that the series will be produced under a new showrunner!

Longtime showrunner Scott Gimple has been promoted to the position of “Chief Creative Officer.” This means he will be in charge of the entire Dead franchise, including Fear the Walking Dead, video game crossovers, and what The Hollywood Reporter refers to as “future brand extensions.” The new showrunner of The Walking Dead will be Angela Kang, who began working on the series in 2011. Kang has recently served as a writer on 21 episodes and producer on 54 episodes of the show. read more

Different Walking Dead Producers Say Violence Was NOT Toned Down After Season Seven Fan Backlash

Last week, Horror News Network reported that The Walking Dead Executive Producer, Gale Anne Hurd, said that the level of violence in the show was toned down after fan reaction to the violent moments of Season Seven. Some fans were happy to hear about this change, while others were not so happy (One since-deleted comment on our twitter feed questioned if the show would be turning into a soap opera).

Some feathers were obviously ruffled by the statement, so now two more producers have told Entertainment Weekly that they have NOT toned down violence due to fan backlash! Showrunner, Scott Gimple, and executive producer and director, Greg Nicotero, offered a different perspectives on the situation. read more
