James DeMonaco Thinks Next Installment of ‘The Purge’ May be the Last

If there’s one franchise could provide potentially limitless content it would have to be The Purge. The series has spawned four films and a TV series which is currently airing on the USA Network. Franchise creator James DeMonaco recently told Entertainment Weekly that he has an idea for the next entry in the series, which he also thinks will be the last.

“I have it in my head,” says DeMonaco. “I think I’m going to write it. I think it’s a great way to end it all. We want to end it all, I think, in this one, and I’m very excited. When I came up with the idea and pitched it to everybody, they seemed psyched, and I think it will be a really cool ending, how we take this one home.” read more

‘The Purge’ TV Series Trailer Asks “What is America?”

Have your ever wondered: “what is America?”  Well, the new trailer for the upcoming The Purge TV series has your answer!

The latest trailer was unveiled at SDCC this past weekend at a panel featuring producer Jason Blum, Purge creator James DeMonaco, director Anthony Hemingway, producer Brad Fuller, showrunner Tom Kelly, the First Purge star Lex Scott Davis and series stars Amanda Warren, Gabriel Chavarria and Fiona Dourif.

DeMonaco is excited to explore the world of the Purge to a greater degree in the TV series, stating that “Time is the biggest factor on a very practical level. We had 10 hours to explore things we couldn’t even attempt to do in the movie.  That gives us the real estate to get into characters more and use a flashback structure to go off purge. Here we go back five years before the purge,  3 months before the purge, 2 days before the purge. So we’ll see how this society exists within the purge landscape. It allows us to go deeper into the world and explore beyond the one night.” read more

‘The Purge: Election Year’ TV Spot spoofs Donald Trump’s campaign slogan, “Make America Great Again.” The hilarious fake political ad is for the third sequel to 2013’s ‘The Purge.’

It stars Frank Grillo, who reprises his role from ‘Anarchy,’ along with Elizabeth Mitchell, Mykelti Williamson, Edwin Hodge, and Kyle Secor.    James DeMonaco wrote and directed the film, which hits theaters July 1. You can view the new TV spot below.
