Blumhouse made a scorching announcement today as Sydney Lemmon (Helstrom, Succession, Fear the Walking Dead) has been cast as “Vicky” in the upcoming feature film Firestarter from Universal Pictures, Blumhouse and Weed Road Pictures.
Lemmon joins Zac Efron (Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile, The Greatest Showman), Ryan Armstrong (American Horror Story, The Tomorrow War, It: Chapter II) Gloria Reuben (City on a Hill, Mr. Robot) and Michael Greyeyes (Wild Indian, Rutherford Falls, True Detective) who were previously announced.
The film, based Stephen King’s classic novel Firestarter, was adapted by Scott Teems (Halloween Kills, Rectify) and is being directed by Keith Thomas (The Vigil).
Firestarter follows a young girl who develops pyrokinetic abilities and is abducted by a secret government agency that wants to harness her powerful gift as a weapon.
Sydney Lemmon most recently starred as “Ana Helstrom” in Marvel’s Hulu series, Helstrom. She previously guest starred in HBO’s Emmy-winning series Succession, AMC’s Fear the Walking Dead, for which she received a Saturn Award Nomination. She was seen in Dan Gilroy’s Velvet Buzzsaw opposite Tom Sturridge, an official selection of the 2019 Sundance Film Festival. She will next appear in the independent feature Plain Fiction.
