Oh, deer! The horrors!

Sweet Tooth–the Netflix horror-fantasy series based on the popular Jeff Lemire DC Comics line–heads into its second season (perhaps next month) with new cast members and changes, according to a report on Deadline.

The eight-episode Season 2 will see Naledi Murray, Neil Sandilands and Marlon Williams promoted to series regulars–with Christopher Sean Cooper Jr. and Yonas Kibreab joining the show as regulars.

The series–led by showrunner, director and executive producer Jim Mickle–follows Gus (Christian Convery)–part deer, part boy–as he leaves his forest home “to find the outside world ravaged by a cataclysmic event,” according to the synopsis.

Gus joins a ragtag family of humans and animal-children hybrids like himself “in search of answers about this new world and the mystery behind his origins.”

The rest of the cast includes Nonso Anozie, Adeel Akhtar, Will Forte, Stefania LaVie Owen, Dania Ramirez and Aliza Vellani–with James Brolin as the voice of the narrator.

In Season 2, as a deadly new wave of the Sick bears down, Gus and a band of fellow hybrids are being held prisoner by Gen. Abbot and the Last Men. Abbot is using the children as fodder for the experiments of the captive Dr. Aditya Singh, who’s racing to save his infected wife.
