Don’t struggle–that only makes it worse.
Quicksand–a new survival horror flick from Sangre Films–recently wrapped shooting in Bogota and is now in post-production, according to a report in Deadline. Altitude Film Sales will present the movie to prospective buyers at Cannes.
The film–directed by Andres Beltran (Wild District) from a screenplay by Matt Pitts (Westworld)–stars Carolina Gaitan (who voiced Pepa in Encanto) and Allan Hawco (Jack Ryan).
Quicksand–said to be in the vein of The Shallows and 127 Hours–follows an American couple on the brink of divorce who travel to Columbia for a work conference, according to the logline.
While they hike through a rainforest, “a storm causes them to be trapped in a pit of quicksand. Unable to move, it becomes a struggle for survival, as they battle the elements of the jungle and a venomous snake.”
Jason Cherubini, Nicolas Reyes and Sean Patrick Burke serve as the film’s producers, with Richard Switzer, Martin Ramos, John Harris and Kris Meyer acting as executive producers.
Mike Runagall of Altitude Film Sales called the film a “fiendishly entertaining thrill ride. We look forward to sharing the impressive footage with the buyers at Cannes.”
