How many falls can you survive?
Fall–last year’s Lionsgate survival thriller–this week was approved for two sequels, with Fall 2 expected to start shooting next year, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
It’s not yet known who will write or direct the first sequel, but Scott Mann–who helmed and co-wrote the original film–will return as producer for both sequels and as director and co-writer of the third film in the series. The sequels reportedly will bring back the original characters, as well as introduce new ones.
“I’m thrilled to be continuing the Fall journey,” Mann said. “We have a special cinematic experience planned, and I’m grateful to the producers for backing the vision.”
The original Fall follows Becky (Grace Caroline Currey) and her best friend Hunter (Virginia Gardner), two young adventurers who climb 2,000 feet to the top of a remote, abandoned radio tower–where they become stranded, with no way down. The women “desperately fight to survive the elements, a lack of supplies and vertigo-inducing heights.”
The film also stars such genre standouts as Jeffrey Dean Morgan (The Walking Dead), Mason Gooding (the Scream franchise), Julia Pace Mitchell (Faster) and Jasper Cole (Westworld).
