Subspecies V: Blood Rise–the much-anticipated prequel in the horror franchise–will air exclusively on FullMoonFeatures,.com later this month before hitting Amazon Prime Video shortly thereafter, according to a report on Collider. Check out the official trailer on this page.
The Full Moon production–from returning writer/director Ted Nicolaou–stars Anders Hove (reprising his role as Radu), Denice Duff as Helena, Kevin Spirtas as Vladislas, Stasa Nikolic as Ariel, Marko Filipovic as Ash, Petar Arsic as Marius, Yulia Graut as Circe, Olivera Perunicic as Diana and Jakov Marjanovic as Stefan.
Produced by Charles Band, the horror prequel tells the story of a man, “stolen by Crusaders on the night of his birth with no knowledge of his bloodline,” according to the synopsis. “His mother is a demon, his father a vampire.”
Trained and exploited by mystic monks to slay the enemies of the church, “fate brings him back to the castle of his father, armed with the monster-slaying Sword of Laertes to destroy the vampire Vladislas and reclaim a holy relic–The Bloodstone.”
The events of that night turn Radu “from a noble man into a vampire with no master–setting him on a quest for the one who stole him from the sun and for the Bloodstone he hopes will bring him peace.”
