Go back to the roots of horror.
The Origin–a Sony Pictures prehistoric horror event that premiered at the BFI London Film Festival–is aiming for a full theatrical release this fall or winter, according to Variety.
The film–directed by Andrew Cummings in his feature debut from a screenplay by Ruth Greenberg (Run)–is being produced by Oliver Kassman (Saint Maud). The cast includes Safia Oakley-Green, Chuku Modu, Kit Young, Iola Evans, Luna Mwezi, Arno Luening and newcomers Rosebud Melarkey and Tyrell Mhlanga.
The feature–set more than 45,000 years in the past–follows a group of early humans “who band together in search of a new land,” according to the synopsis.
But, when they suspect a “malevolent, mystical being is hunting them down, the clan is forced to confront a horrifying danger they never imagined.”
