The new year will bring a new season of hunting ghosts.
Five years after the original run of the popular paranormal series Ghost Hunters wrapped up, a new season is on the way, according to a report on comicbook.com. This time, the show–with 12 all-new one-hour episodes–will air on discovery+ and will premiere New Year’s Day, Jan. 1, 2022.
The show reportedly will reunite original team members Jason Hawes, Steve Gonsalves and Dave Tango–along with Shari DeBenedetti–to “revisit their most chilling cases and investigate disturbing new hauntings.” The team will tackle “paranormal activity head-on, leaving no stone unturned to reach the dead among the living.”
This reboot will follow the teammates as they search for answers among such eerie locations as Old Joliet Prison in Joliet, Ill., a haunted hotel in Nebraska, a brewery in Pittsburgh and a Virginia castle that may have visitors from outer space.
Hawes said “Ghost Hunters is back with the names and faces you recognize, investigating some incredible locations with new equipment and in our style.” Tango added that this new show “has some of the creepiest locations, best evidence and familiar faces that viewers will be excited to see.”
The opening episode on Jan. 1–The Lost Souls of Joliet–deals with “unsettling paranormal activity that has been ramping up at the new-shuttered penitentiary, and volunteers there are desperate for answers.”
