This creature is strong with the Force.
Star Ace Toys has unveiled a new Frankenstein’s creature collectible, this one based on the 1970 Hammer Film classic The Horror of Frankenstein. Check out photos of the figure–courtesy of news.toyark.com–on this page.
The figure–cast in the likeness of the creature as portrayed by David Prowse (who went on to fame as the man inside Darth Vader’s awe-inspiring armor in the original Star Wars trilogy)–is 1/6-scale, standing just over 12-1/2 inches tall with 30 points of articulation.
The standard version–priced at $279–includes the creature, a severed head in a jar, a bloody ax, a neck chain, lab equipment, multiple hands and a cloth drape. There’s also a deluxe version–priced at $379–that comes with a two-sided backdrop lab wall and a lab table that can stand vertically or horizontally.
The collectible–due for release in the fourth quarter of this year–can be pre-ordered through Big Bad Toy Store.
The Horror of Frankenstein–directed by Jimmy Sangster from a screenplay he wrote with Jeremy Burnham–is a semi-remake of 1957’s The Curse of Frankenstein. The film stars Ralph Bates, Kate O’Mara, Veronica Carlson and Prowse as the monster.
