Stanley Weiser to write Rod Serling Biopic

Wall Street co-writer Stanley Weiser is set to script a biopic about The Twilight Zone creator Rod Serling for Andrew Meieran and his Bureau of Moving Pictures. Serling fought as a paratrooper and a member of the demolition squad during World War II and the horrors that he witnessed would influence the twisted sci-fi horror he would become famous for. While Seinfeld joked that all episodes of The Twilight Zone were simply that the protagonist was the same and everything else was different, the show still managed to work in thoughtful social and moral commentary. “The Monsters Are Due on Maple Street” was a comment on the prejudice and mass hysteria caused by the Red Scare and the grotesqeries of “The Masks” was a parable about vanity. Serling also co-wrote the adaptation of Planet of the Apes, a film that proudly wears its social commentary on its damn, dirty sleeve.
