This is definitely a bad trip.
Spoonful of Sugar–a psychological horror pic that will have its coming-out party at Fantastic Fest–has been picked up by Shudder for a planned debut sometime next year, according to a report on Deadline.
The film–directed by Mercedes Bryce Morgan from a screenplay by Leah Saint Marie–follows “a disturbed babysitter who experiences a sexual awakening while using LSD to alternatively treat a seemingly sick child from a family with dark secrets,” according to the synopsis.
Spoonful of Sugar–produced by Matt Miller, Natalie Metzger and Katrina Kudlick–stars Morgan Saylor, Kat Foster, Myko Olivier, Danilo Crovetti and David Yow.
Morgan said it’s an “honor to be able to showcase” the movie on Shudder. “I can’t wait for audiences everywhere to dive into the trippy psyches of our characters.”
Shudder general manager Craig Engler said Morgan “delivers an incisive psychological horror laced with nightmarish visions of hallucinogenic beauty.”
