Two of Sony’s most talked about properties received release dates this week (according to deadline), as Spider-Man’s Living Vampire Morbius and a classic Ghostbusters sequel will be released during the summer season of 2020.
Jason Reitman’s Ghostbusters will open on July 10, 2020 and Morbius (starring Jared Leto as the “not-quiet-dead” vampire) will come out three weeks later on July 31. As of now, both films will have their respective opening weekends to themselves, with no current competition slated to open on either date.
It has also been rumored that Sony is saving a spot for the inevitable Venom sequel, as “The studio also has a placeholder for a Marvel pic on October 2, 2020. That’s likely now to be Venom 2; the first Venom bowed October 5 and went on to gross $885.8 million worldwide.”
A lot can change in terms of scheduling, but Sony must feel confident about both films since they were the first studio to plant their flags on the dates. Be sure to keep checking back with Horror News Network for more information about the new and improved Ghostbusters and Morbius.
