Smile–from writer/director Parker Finn–continued its box office reign with a second impressive weekend, raking in an estimated $17 million, according to a report on Deadline.
The R-rated thriller–which earned $22 million in its opening weekend–follows Dr. Rose Cotter (Sosie Bacon) as she experiences “frightening occurrences that she can’t explain after witnessing a bizarre, traumatic incident involving a patient,” according to the synopsis.
Things continue to get worse, and Cotter must confront “her troubling past in order to survive and escape her horrifying new reality.”
Smile also stars genre standouts Jesse T. Usher (The Boys), Kal Penn (The Ashram), Rob Morgan (Stranger Things), Kyle Gallner (this year’s Scream) and Caitlin Stasey (Fear, Inc.).
