Slash is heading to the Sundance Film Festival this weekend to announce the upcoming films on tap in 2011 and beyond for Slasher Films. On Sunday, January 23, Slash will hold a press conference and party at the House of Blues in Park City, Utah to discuss the exciting film projects heading for production this year. “We’re looking forward to getting up to Sundance to connect with like-minded directors and writers that share the same passion and nostalgia for quality horror and suspense films that Michael, Rob and I do,” explained Slash in a press release. Slasher Films is a film production company specializing in the horror genre. Founded by Michael Williams and Rob Eric of Scout Productions (Session 9, Transsiberian) and iconic rock guitarist SLASH, the company’s goal is to produce edgy, slick, low to medium budget original character driven horror films reminiscent of the visionary horror fare of the late 1970’s and 80’s. Under the creative direction of Academy Award winning producer Michael Williams, Rob Eric and SLASH, the company will begin making one to two horror movies a year starting in 2011 with an eye towards supernatural, psychological thrillers and terrifying horror. SLASHER FILMS is dedicated to bringing horror fans original content directed by the best of today’s horror maestros in the vein of Neil Marshall (The Descent), Breck Eisner (The Crazies), Ti West (House of the Devil) and Brian Bertino (The Strangers), and will also provide a platform for showcasing up-and-coming masters of horror, including directors such as Pascal Laugier (Martyrs) and Jaume Balaguero (REC).
