Sideshow Collectibles Rolls Out New Leatherface Figure

The classics never die–they just grab another chainsaw.

A brand-new imposing Leatherface figure–straight from the murderous mayhem of Tobe Hooper’s 1974 The Texas Chain Saw Massacre–is on its way from Sideshow Collectibles. Check out the images of the horror icon–courtesy of news.toyark.com–on this page.

The Leatherface 1/6-scale figure–open for pre-orders now–stands 12 inches tall and is decked out in a tailored fabric outfit and blood-spattered apron. The figure–priced at $240–will be released between September and December.

The details of the articulated horror figure include a collared shirt, black pants, a patterned necktie, the trademark yellow butcher’s apron and black boots. Not to mention the haunting sallow complexion on the fake face skin, wild mop of hair and stitched elements on his frightening countenance.

Accessories include alternate sets of hands (fists, gripping hands and gesture hands), the signature chainsaw, mallet and charm bracelet attached to the wrist.

The original The Texas Chain Saw Massacre–produced and directed by Hooper from a screenplay he wrote with Kim Henkel–follows a group of friends who fall victim to a family of cannibals, including–of course–Leatherface.

Despite being banned in several countries due to its excessive violence, the film was a hit at the box office–raking in $31 million on a budget of less than $140,000. Now considered one of the most influential horror movies of all time, the original gave birth to sequels, prequels, a reboot, comic books, video games and a host of collectibles.
