Shooting Has Started On New Aussie Thriller ‘The Red’

Stay away from this town.

The Red–a new survival horror pic from Down Under–has started shooting in Central Queensland and Brisbane, according to a report on Deadline. No release window has been announced.

The film–directed by Ryan Coonan from a screenplay he wrote with Richard Barcaricchio–is based on the 2014 short film Waterborne, and stars Tess Haubrich (Alien: Covenant), Michael Biehn (The Terminator) and Angie Milliken (Elvis).

In the film, a young sheriff (Haubrich), “obsessed with living up to her dead father’s legacy, finds herself tested when local are found ripped to shreds,” according to the synopsis. She must face up to her past and work with her eccentric uncle (Biehn) “to defeat the beast responsible for the murders before it kills everyone in town.”

The film–with creature effects from Toby Barron (Thor: Ragnarok)–is produced by Judd Tilyard, Liz Tomkins, Jessica Butland and Barcaricchio. Executive producers include Verity Fiction, James Norrie and Nina Kolokouri.
