The reboot of the 1984 cult classic The Toxic Avenger premieres today at Fantastic Fest, and several new images have now arrived to preview the film. Check out photos of the cast on this page.
The R-rated pic–which still does not have a wide release date–comes from writer/director Macon Blair, and stars Peter Dinklage in the title role–along with Kevin Bacon, Jacob Tremblay, Taylour Paige, Jonny Coyne, Sarah Niles, Elijah Wood and Julia Davis.
The remake follows Winston Gooze, a janitor at the Garb-X health club who’s diagnosed with a terminal illness that can only be cured by an expensive treatment that his employer refuses to pay for.
Deciding to take matters into his own hands and steal from his company, Gooze instead tumbles into a vat of toxic waste–and is transformed into a deformed monster “that sets out to do good, but also wants revenge on those who have wronged him.”
The original film–directed by Michael Herz and Lloyd Kaufman from a screenplay by Kaufman and Joe Ritter–spawned three sequels, an animated TV show and a comic book series.
