by Thomas Tuna

An innocent cornfield? Not on your life.

Escape the Field–a new horror entry from Lionsgate–lands in theaters (as well as digital and on-demand) this Friday, May 6, and the second terrifying trailer is now available. Check out the video–courtesy of movieweb.com–on this page.

The film–directed by Emerson Moore from a screenplay he wrote with Joshua Dobkin and Sean Wathen–stars Jordan Claire Robbins, Theo Rossi, Tahirah Sharif, Julian Feder, Elena Juatco and Shane West.

The storyline follows six strangers who wake up in a remote, seemingly endless cornfield with just six items: a gun with one bullet, matches, a lantern, a knife, a compass and a flask of water.

As sirens blare in the distance and traps appear everywhere, “the group realizes it’s been plunged into a cat-and-mouse game with an unseen evil. And survival depends on solving a diabolical–and deadly–puzzle.”

Moore described the R-rated film as “dark, dangerous and cinematic. Inspired by films like Jaws and The Ring, I wanted to create strong characters and a visual style that is kinetic–forward momentum with presence and purpose. It’s a creepy monster movie set in a cornfield, but it ‘s also an intense psychological tale.”
