SDCC: ‘The Terror: Infamy’ Takes the Horror of Internment and Adds the Supernatural

Coming August 12 to AMC, “The Terror: Infamy” is the second in the horror-anthology series that looks at historical events with a supernatural element. A big focus of this show will be based on the Japanese-American experience in internment camps. While everyone knows George Takei from Star Trek, they may not know that he spent several years of his childhood in an internment camp. He was originally brought on the the show as a consultant for that very reason. After working as a consultant, they convinced him to act in it, as well.

Executive Producer Alexander Woo proudly noted that all of the cast is of Japanese ancestry and all involved are very happy to see the story told in this way but that this is not just a Japanese-American story, “It’s a story for anyone who’s life has been touched by an immigrant.”

Derek Mio says that this is the “role of a lifetime” as his family also has a history in an internment camp. He is so happy to have this story told on a network like AMC to bring awareness to the history.

As many have had family experiences in internment camps themselves, they all believed that this is a story that all people can benefit from understanding.

SDCC Synopsis: This series centers on a series of bizarre deaths that haunt a Japanese-American community and a young man’s journey to understand and combat the malevolent entity responsible.
