After a month in Manhattan, Ghostface is hanging in there.
Going up against formidable box office competition (the latest Dungeons & Dragons and John Wick entries), Scream VI continued its predictable decline this weekend, but still managed to come in fifth in the domestic race–bringing its four-week total to $98 million.
The slasher–which raked in $44.5 million in its debut weekend–earned $5.2 million from 3,000 theaters this most recent three-day stretch, according to a report on Deadline.
Scream VI–directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett from a screenplay by James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick–brings the carnage to New York City streets and subways, as the survivors of the last Ghostface killings leave Woodsboro behind.
Such legacy stars as Courteney Cox, Melissa Barrera, Hayden Panettiere, Jenna Ortega, Jasmin Savoy Brown and Mason Gooding return for this entry–joining newcomers Samara Weaving, Dermot Mulroney, Jack Champion, Liana Liberato, Devyn Nekoda, Josh Segarra and Henry Czerny.
