Now that’s a good reason to scream–with delight.
Scream VI–the heavily hyped latest entry in the horror film series–is already on a fast track to set a franchise record for a domestic box office opening, according to a report on Deadline.
Early tracking numbers have the horror pic raking in $37 million domestically when it hits theaters March 10. Those figures would top the $34.7 million earned by Scream 3 back in 2000.
The Paramount Pictures and Spyglass Media film is helmed by returning directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett from a screenplay by James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick.
In the flick, the survivors of the last Ghostface slaughter head for New York City, only to have Tara suffer through psychological breakdowns–while seeing ghosts of past killers, according to the synopsis.
Meanwhile, Tara’s sister Sam tries to manipulate her by pretending to be Ghostface, but that ploy goes all to hell when “three masked killers appear on the scene–posing the question of who will survive and who will be the final victim.”
Caught up in this madness are legacy stars Courteney Cox, Hayden Panettiere, Melissa Barrera, Jenna Ortega, Jasmin Savoy Brown and Mason Gooding–alongside newcomers Samara Weaving, Dermot Mulroney, Jack Champion, Liana Liberato, Devyn Nekoda, Josh Segarra and Henry Czerny.
