New York City has that effect on people.

A new, more detailed synopsis for Scream VI just dropped yesterday, and now the directing team has revealed that horror fans can look forward to a much different Ghostface in this installment.

Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett–during a recent interview with Total Film–said the new entry in the horror franchise may prove to be an exhausting ride for fans when it hits theaters March 10.

“We wanted to make this one really different,” Bettinelli-Olpin said, “while still having all the stuff you love. Having a bolder, more brazen Ghostface was a big part of that.”

Gillett added that the new film “moves like it’s on rocket fuel. You sit down, it starts and the movie is just a ride. You get off two hours later, and you feel like you haven’t taken a breath.”

The film–written by James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick–brings back franchise legacy stars Courteney Cox, Hayden Panettiere, Melissa Barrera, Jenna Ortega, Jasmin Savoy Brown and Mason Gooding, and introduces Dermot Mulroney, Jack Champion, Liana Liberato, Devyn Nekoda, Josh Segarra and Henry Czerny.

Scream VI follows the survivors of the last Ghostface killings as they hit Manhattan, where Tara “begins to experience manic psychological breakdowns–while seeing the ghosts of past killers,” according to the synopsis.

And Tara’s sister Sam tries to “manipulate her by pretending to be Ghostface. But when those plans go wrong, three new masked killers appear on the scene–posing the question of who will survive and who will be the final victim.”
