‘Scream VI’ Directors Promise Upcoming Film Is “Relentless”

Sounds like Ghostface has been taking his vitamins.

Scream VI–which slashes its way onto the big screen March 10–will be a kicked-up version of the previous entry in the classic horror franchise, according to the film’s directing duo of Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett.

In explaining the way the team approached this new film, Gillett–during a recent interview with NME–said they “wanted to subvert the warm blanket (of Scream 5) and make something that’s grittier and rawer.”

Gillett called Scream VI “relentless and really visceral. It has all the ingredients–all the things we love about the franchise–but it has an attitude that’s a little bit different. We think people are really going to be excited about it.”

Bettinelli-Olpin added that the horror pic is “definitely more brazen and aggressive than the last one. So, you know, there’s a body count in this one.”

Scream VI--written by the returning team of James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick–follows the survivors of the last Ghostface killings as they leave Woodsboro behind for the big-city dangers of Manhattan. Of course, can Ghostface be very far behind?

The cast includes the returning Courteney Cox, Hayden Panettiere, Melissa Barrera, Jenna Ortega, Jasmin Savoy Brown and Mason Gooding–alongside newcomers Dermot Mulroney, Jack Champion, Liana Liberato, Devyn Nekoda, Josh Segarra and Henry Czerny.
