Scream Reboot Shoots for 2022 Release

by Mark McCurley

Coming in from Deadline, the fifth entry in the Scream film series will now be released on January 14, 2022.

Paramount Pictures has made release date changes across the studio’s slate of films, which includes moving Top Gun: Maverick to July 2, 2021 and the G.I. Joe spin-off film Snake Eyes for Oct. 22, 2021.

The reboot of Scream, which is a co-production with Spyglass, gathers returning franchise stars Neve Campbell, David Arquette and Courteney Cox for another round of blood splatter and eerie phone calls.

The original four films in the series were directed by Wes Craven and established the Ghostface killer as a mainstay horror icon, who would stalk victims by calling and speak using a voice changer then attack with a hunting knife.

Production is set to begin later this year in Wilmington, North Carolina with safety protocols in place due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
