High school gets tougher all the time.
Departing Seniors–a new horror-comedy from Queensbury Pictures–has started filming in Chicago with several new cast members, according to a report on Deadline.
Along with lead Ignacio Diaz-Silverio (Primo), the film stars Yani Gellman (Pretty Little Liars), Lorena Diaz (Chicago Med), Ireon Roach (Candyman) and Cameron Scott Roberts (The Walking Dead).
Departing Seniors–from first-time director Clare Cooney and screenwriter Jose Nateras–follows high school senior Javier (Diaz-Silverio) who, “after witnessing an act of bullying, begins having psychic visions that reveal the horrifying truth behind a rash of supposed suicides at his school,” according to the synopsis.
Now, “it’s up to him and his sarcastic best friend to unmask the truth behind the grisly occurrences.”
Cooney and Nateras also serve as producers, along with Dashawna Wright and Kelly Parker. Greg Newman and Queensbury Pictures act as executive producers.
Cooney said the screenplay is “an ode to so many classic genre films, and yet uniquely its own. It has been exhilarating to collaborate with a team as diverse as the characters on the page.”
