The Hollywood Reporter exclusively reported today that writers from the ‘Saw’ series Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan have been hired to write the latest ‘Halloween’ film for Dimension Films. Malek Akkad, son of Moustapha Akkad, and Matt Stein are producing the new film, which sources say will be a “recalibration”, rather than a reboot or reimagining. No director is attached to the film as of yet. Melton and Dustan have written for ‘Saw’ (numbers IV to VII), ‘Piranha 3D’, an adaptation of ‘The Outer Limits,’ ‘God of War,’ and ‘Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark.’
