Sandra Oh to Star in ‘Umma’ from Stage 6 Films

The month of horror continues according to Deadline as Raimi Productions and Starlight Media’s supernatural horror film Umma has found its star with Golden Globe Award winner Sandra Oh.

Recently acquired by Stage 6 Films at Sony Pictures, Umma, which in Korean means “mother,” is the story of Amanda (Oh) and her daughter living on an American farm. However, their quiet life turns upside down when the remains of Amanda’s estranged mother arrive from Korea and she becomes haunted by the fear of turning into her deceased parent.

Produced by Sam Raimi (The Evil Dead series), the screenplay is written by Iris K. Shim, a documentary maker who is taking on her feature film directing debut with Umma.

Other cast members include Fivel Stewart, Dermot Mulroney, Odeya Rush, MeeWha Alana Lee and Tom Yi.

Check back soon for more coming soon on Umma as the project develops.

Mark McCurley
Since Mark was four years old he has always loved the horror genre, even when his mother would be a good parent and not let him watch such films. It was when he would sneak into the Horror section at the video store called Tommy K's that he would see all of the VHS covers of classics like Friday the 13th and A Nightmare on Elm Street. During his time as a journalism major and news staff writer at Southern CT State University, he had the pleasure of meeting and interviewing paranormal investigator Lorraine Warren before a seminar in 2009 at the Lyman Center on campus.
