Sam Raimi Set To Produce New Adaptation Of ‘Suburban Hell’

by Thomas Tuna

The ghosts have moved to the suburbs.

Sam Raimi of Evil Dead fame will produce a feature adaptation of Maureen Kilmer’s novel Suburban Hell, according to a report on Deadline. No production schedule or casting choices have been revealed at this early stage.

Raimi will work alongside Paul Feig (2016’s Ghostbusters) and Laura Fischer of Feigco Entertainment and Rob Tapert of Ghost House to produce the film.

There’s no word yet on a director, but Joanna Calo–co-showrunner, writer and director of the FX series The Bear–will write the screenplay.

The 2022 novel Suburban Hell follows a group of suburban moms “whose friendship is put to the ultimate test when one of them becomes possessed by an evil spirit,” according to the description.
