It’s Murphy’s Law at Netflix.
Ryan Murphy this week got a big green light from Netflix for two of his genre shows–Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story and The Watcher, according to a report on Deadline.
The streamer has ordered two additional entries in the Monster franchise and a second season of The Watcher. Both series were created by Murphy (American Horror Story) and Ian Brennan (Glee).
Details on the new entries in the Monster anthology franchise are being kept secret at this time, but Netflix said the shows will “tell the stories of other monstrous figures who have had an impact on society.”
The 10-episode The Jeffrey Dahmer Story–starring Evan Peters as the notorious serial killer–is told largely from the point of view of Dahmer’s victims, and dramatizes several instances where Dahmer was almost caught, but was ultimately let go.
The Watcher–starring Naomi Watts and Bobby Cannavale–follows the Brannock family as they move into a “suburban dream house” only to find it’s a living hell. Threatening letters from someone calling himself The Watcher are just the tip of the iceberg, as the neighborhood’s sinister secrets are soon revealed.
