RoboDoc: The Creation of RoboCop wrapped filming after obtaining an interview with the original film star Peter Weller. The documentary will follow the journey from page to screen of Paul Verhoeven’s 1987 cult classic and will include interviews with cast, crew, producers and various creatives who worked on the film including but not limited to Nancy Allen, Kurtwood Smith, Ray Wise, Ronny Cox, Phil Tippett and Bart Mixon.
The documentary is a Cult Screening UK Production in association with Red Rock Entertainment. It was co-directed by Christopher Griffiths and Eastwood Allen and produced by Gary Smart, Adam Evans, Michael Perez, and Hank Starrs. Executive producer is Adam F. Goldberg.
Gary Collins of Red Rock Entertainment has this to say according to Deadline: “There has never been a documentary film quite like RoboDoc and the unique access to archive, exclusive interviews, attention to detail and a stunning visual ethos make this film a truly unique production and one that we are very proud to be a part of.”
The original film, released by Orion Pictures, was set in a crime filled Detroit, Michigan. The story follows a wounded cop who returns to the force as a cyborg haunted by his unpleasant memories.
