The Munster clan is looking scary good.
Writer/director Rob Zombie has unveiled yet another tidbit from his upcoming The Munsters feature reboot of the ’60s TV series, and this one is a series of several detailed closeups of Herman, Lily and Grandpa that show the trio in all their colorful glory. The film–which still does not have an exact debut date (most likely this fall) or a landing spot (maybe Peacock, maybe Netflix)–is based, of course, on the CBS TV show, and Zombie has said it has been made “100 percent in the spirit of the show. I wanted to totally retain the vibe that it had in the ’60s.”
The PG-rated film (a first for Zombie) stars Jeff Daniel Phillips as Herman, Sheri Moon Zombie as Lily and Daniel Roebuck as Grandpa–along with Sylvester McCoy, Jorge Garcia, Cassandra Peterson, Richard Brake, Catherine Schell, Dee Wallace, Tomas Boykin, Pat Priest, Jeremy Wheeler, Roderick Hill and Mark Griffith.
The original The Munsters–that ran from 1964-1965–starred Fred Gwynne as Herman, Yvonne De Carlo as Lily and Al Lewis as Grandpa–alongside Butch Patrick as son Eddie (no word yet if he will reprise his role or appear as another character) and Beverley Owen (later replaced by Pat Priest) as niece Marilyn.
