This eight-episode take on the 1839 Edgar Allan Poe short story–set for Netflix Oct. 12–is from acclaimed genre writer/director Mike Flanagan. The series follows siblings Roderick (Bruce Greenwood) and Madeline Usher (Mary McDonnell), who have built Fortunato Pharmaceuticals into a lucrative–and controversial–empire.
But, when a woman from their past–who is really a shape-shifting demon known as Verna (Carla Gugino)–arrives to kill the Usher heirs, “dark secrets emerge.”
The rest of the show’s impressive cast includes Carl Lumbly, Samantha Sloyan, Henry Thomas, T’Nia Miller, Mark Hamill and Kate Siegel.
