The fog is starting to lift.
Some light is breaking over Return to Silent Hill–the sequel to the 2006 film based on the Konami survival horror game–as plot details and at least one cast member have been revealed, according to a report on Filmportal.
The film–expected to start shooting in Germany very soon–is directed by Christophe Gans from a screenplay he wrote with Sandra Vo-Ahn and Will Schneider. Victor Hadida and Molly Hassell are producing the feature.
In the psychological horror story, James Sunderland–driven by the shadows of his past–returns to Silent Hill to find his lost love, Mary. But, “the dark, depressing town is no longer the place from his memories,” according to the synopsis.
Sunderland encounters people “who seem familiar, but who try to divert him from his search for Mary. The longer he searches, the more he begins to wonder if this is reality–or if he has fallen into the dark underworld of Jacob Crane.”
Casting reportedly has begun with Jeremy Irvine (The Woman in Black: Angel of Death), who would appear to have been cast as James Sunderland.
