Remastered ‘Michael Jackson’s Thriller 3D’ to Play on IMAX Screens with ‘The House with a Clock in Its Walls’

IMAX is on a roll lately when it comes to offering up classic material on their screens in ways we’ve never seen or heard them before. Just this week, the big-screen cinema brand completed a 50th anniversary run of Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey, and soon Michael Jackson’s Thriller 3D will tower over moviegoers with booming high definition sound!

The Associated Press reports that Michael Jackson’s estate and the IMAX company are partnering to digitally remaster Michael Jackson’s Thriller 3D for a special theatrical presentation ahead of director Eli Roth’s The House with a Clock in Its Walls.

Thriller was directed by John Landis, and it first premiered in 1983. The estate’s co-executors said in a press release that Michael Jackson always wanted to offer his fans the, “latest and greatest in technology and entertainment experiences;” and a full-blown IMAX experience most certainly fits that description.

The double feature will begin playing in theaters on September 21st, 2018, with Michael Jackson’s Thriller playing just before The House with a Clock in Its Walls. The length of Michael Jackson’s Thriller 3D run was not stated in the press release, but fans can safely assume that it will run until The House with a Clock in Its Walls finishes its IMAX run. Stay tuned to Horror News Network for more coverage of both productions as they break!

John has loved movie monsters for as far back as he can remember. He's since collected up as many comics, statues, and autographed material related to movies and music that he can get his hands on. He is particularly interested in the critical and analytical discussion of the best stories the horror genre has to offer. One of his largest works on the topic is a study on the portrayals of people with disabilities in horror films.
