Regina King to Direct Adaptation of Image Comics’ ‘Bitter Root’

Good news for comic fans as Deadline has announced that Oscar-winning actress and director Regina King has agreed to direct and produce an adaptation of Image Comics’ popular book ‘Bitter Root’. King is fresh off her first directing gig on One Night In Miami which received several Oscar nominations and netted her nominations for a DGA Award and an NAACP Image Award.

‘Bitter Root’ first hit the stands in 2019 and was nominated for a 2019 Eisner Award for Best New Series and a 2019 Ringo award for Best Series. Created by long-time comic book creators David F. Walker, Chuck Brown and Sanford Greene, ‘Bitter Root’ is set in 1920’s Harlem, NY, “…and only the Sangerye Family can save New York-and the world-from the supernatural forces threatening to destroy humanity. But the once-great family of monster hunters has been torn apart by tragedies and conflicting moral codes.
