Red Band Trailer Arrives For ‘The Toxic Avenger’ Reboot

“The Toxic Avenger?”

“That’s what the kids are calling him. I think it’s swell!”

The remake of the 1984 cult classic The Toxic Avenger recently premiered at Fantastic Fest and, while no theatrical release window has yet been announced, a new red band trailer dropped this week to tease the bloody action to come. Check out the video on this page.

The R-rated reboot–from writer/director Macon Blair–stars Peter Dinklage as Toxie, alongside Kevin Bacon, Jacob Tremblay, Taylour Paige, Jonny Coyne, Sarah Niles, Elijah Wood and Julia Davis.

In the film, janitor Winston Gooze has been diagnosed with a terminal illness that can only be cured by an expensive treatment that his employer won’t pay for.

So, taking matters into his own hands, Gooze steals from his company–but, in the process, he tumbles into a vat of toxic waste and is transformed into a deformed monster. Making the best of a very bad situation, Gooze “sets out to do good–but also to get revenge on those who have wronged him.”

The original film–directed by Michael Herz and Lloyd Kaufman from a screenplay by Kaufman and Joe Ritter–gave birth to three sequels, an animated TV show and a comic book series.
