The Return of the Living Dead–the classic 1985 horror-comedy–will get the reboot treatment from Living Dead Media, according to the company’s website.
The project–led by director Steve Wolsh (Muck)–will “expand the existing world created by the original five films, while staying true to the R-rated horror-comedy roots loved by fans of the cult classic.” No production schedules or release timetables were revealed.
The original The Return of the Living Dead--written and directed by Dan O’Bannon in his directorial debut–stars Clu Gulager, James Karen and Thom Matthews. The storyline follows a warehouse owner, two employees, a mortician and some teenage punks as they deal with a horde of brain-hungry zombies.
A critical success that had moderate success at the box office, the original spawned four sequels.
