It’s time to sacrifice for survival: Ridley Scott is continuing his horror-tinged science-fiction magic next year.

The celebrated filmmaker behind such genre blockbusters as Alien and Blade Runner is the executive producer and sometime-director of the HBO Max hit series Raised by Wolves, which is returning for a second season Feb. 3, 2022. Raised by Wolves–which stars Winta McGrath, Niamh Algar, Jordan Loughran, Matias Varela, Felix Jamieson, Ethan Hazzard, Aasiya Shah, Ivy Wong and Travis Fimmel–follows two androids–Father and Mother–who are given the job of raising human children on Kepler-22b after the Earth was destroyed by war.

As the colony is threatened by severe religious differences, the androids “learn controlling the beliefs of humans is a treacherous and difficult task,” according to the official synopsis.

The cast for Season 2 also includes Peter Christoffersen (When the Dust Settles), Selina Jones (Fragments), Morgan Santo (The Watch), James Harkness (The Victim), Kim Engelbrecht (The Flash) and Jennifer Saayeng (Cursed).

The eight-episode first season of Raised by Wolves–created by Aaron Guzikowski (Prisoners)–reportedly was the top-performing original HBO Max series since the streamer started in May.

Sarah Aubrey, head of original content at HBO Max, said this series “weaves together Ridley’s hallmarks of science-fiction and horror, while offering fans one of the most original storylines. I can’t wait to see what’s in store for Season 2.”

Scott added that the creative team is “already deep into the layers of Season 2, as Aaron has begun to shape what we think will be another brilliant season to inspire the imagination.”
