Psychological Horror Film ‘Monstrous’ Lands In May

by Thomas Tuna

An example of when a horror title kinda says it all–Monstrous.

This new genre film from Screen Media–which will have its world premiere this weekend at the Glasgow FrightFest–will hit theaters and VOD May 13. Check out the movie’s trailer–courtesy of–on this page.

Monstrous–from director Chris Sivertson (I Know Who Killed Me) and screenwriter Carol Chrest (The Prophet’s Game)–stars Emmy and Golden Globe Award nominee Christina Ricci (Yellowjackets) as Laura, “who runs away from her ex-husband with seven-year-old son Cody (Santino Barnard) after being traumatized by an abusive relationship,” according to the logline.

But, as mother and son settle into their new life, they encounter “a bigger, more terrifying horror that threatens their already-fragile existence and pushes their physical and mental well-being to the limit.”

The film–which also stars Colleen Camp, Don Balderamos and Nick Vallelong–is produced by Robert Yocum, Sasha Yelaun, B.I. Rosen and Johnny Remo.

Screen Media in a statement called Monstrous a “glossy, twist-filled thriller. The film is all the more special thanks to the charm of Christina Ricci in a complex lead performance.”
