Sometimes your faith is sorely tested.

Immaculate–a new psychological horror pic from Black Bear Pictures–this week signed its lead: Emmy Award nominee Sydney Sweeney (Euphoria), according to a report on Deadline. Production is expected to start in January.

The feature–directed by Michael Mohan (The Voyeurs) from a screenplay by Andrew Lobel (Dead or Alive)–follows Cecilia (Sweeney), “a woman of devout faith, who is offered a fulfilling new role at an Italian convent,” according to the synopsis.

But her welcome to the Italian countryside is soon interrupted, “as it becomes clear to Cecilia that her new home harbors some dark and horrifying secrets.”

The film is produced by Sweeney, Jonathan Davino, Teddy Schwarzman and Michael Heimler, with John Friedberg, Christopher Casanova and Will Greenfield serving as executive producers.
