Production on ‘Swamp Thing’ Series Unexpectedly Halted; Teaser Trailer Debuts

Swamp Thing fans received some good new and bad news today about DC Universe’s upcoming adaptation of the classic Alan Moore stories.

The good news is that a teaser for the upcoming series launched like an alligator snapping up a heron in the Okefenokee wetlands, featuring a first look at the comic-accurate costume.   The bad news is that “ole’ Swampy” may not be long for the streaming world as (according to the Hollywood Reporter) “…the original 13-episode order for the project has been cut to 10 after experiencing creative differences with its home at Warners-backed streaming platform DC Universe.”  Despite this news, the series will still premiere on May 31.

The reduction in episodes may have a lot to do with Warner Media’s plans to launch their own steaming service, which may spell doom for the DC Universe platform.  No other information about this change has been made available at this time from either Warner Media or DC Universe, but the teaser is sure to take some attention away from the unexpected episode cut.

The series is set to star  Derek Mears and Andy Bean as Swamp Thing and his human for Doctor Alec Holland, along with Jennifer Beals, Virginia Madsen, Ian Ziering, Will Patton, Andy Bean, Crystal Reed, Kevin Durand, Henderson Wade, Jeryl Prescott and Maria Sten. Directors include E.L. Katz andLen Wiseman among others.

Check out the teaser trailer below and stay tuned for more information about the future of the show and DC Universe’s streaming service.
