The faces are getting clearer.

Charlotte Emma Aitchison–known as Charli XCX to fans of her pop songs–this week joined the cast of the remake of the controversial 1978 horror pic Faces of Death, according to The Wrap. This will be the singer’s first live-action feature.

The Legendary Entertainment reboot–expected to start production soon–also stars Josie Totah, Barbie Ferreira and Dacre Montgomery. Director Daniel Goldhaber will work from a screenplay by Isa Mazzei, with Susan Montford, Don Murphy and Cory Kaplan producing.

The new film will follow a female moderator of a YouTube-like website whose job is to “weed out offensive and violent content,” but who stumbles across a group “that’s recreating the murders from the original film,” according to the synopsis.

The original Faces of Death–written and directed by John Alan Schwartz–follows pathologist Francis B. Gross (Michael Carr), a host who presents gruesome deaths caught on tape. Banned in several countries and ripped by many critics, the film still performed well at the box office, raking in $35 million worldwide on a budget of just $450,000.
