Plans In Place For Adapting ‘Poltergeist’ To Small Screen

They’re heeeere…again.

Poltergeist–the 1982 horror classic–has spawned several sequels and a 2015 reboot, and will now have a TV series, if plans announced by Amazon MGM Studios come to fruition, according to Variety.

No director, screenwriter or casting choices have yet been revealed, and the only plot details so far are that the show will be set “within the world of the film.” So, stay tuned for information that should be forthcoming soon.

The original Poltergeist–directed by Tobe Hooper (The Texas Chain Saw Massacre) from a screenplay by Steven Spielberg, Michael Grais and Mark Victor (from Spielberg’s original story)–stars JoBeth Williams, Craig T. Nelson and Beatrice Straight.

The film–which earned $122 million globally on an $11-million budget–follows a suburban family whose house is invaded by evil ghosts that abduct their youngest daughter.
